Saturday Sunshine 19th October

Testing out a 'new' travelling rig, the palm sized Sharpstar EDPH50 refactor, a very nice little triplet. This has the benefit of being able to use for a bit of lunar too as we head into autumn. It performs really well on the sun with the little 1.25" Lunt wedge visually, and also for imaging with the Baader continuum filter. Next step is to try the G-Band filter for imaging...

A Plane, A Pylon, A Perseid and the Aurora 12/13th August

Round 2 for the aurora the following evening. This years Perseids will be remembered for the aurora! Canon 250D 10mm f4 iso800 30s.

While watching for Perseids the aurora kindly put on a show around 1am when a G2 geomagnetic storm hit. Taken along the Shropshire Union Canal south of Brewood where the skies are a bit darker.

The skies were blue in between the fluffy white clouds so decided to take the opportunity to get out in the sunshine. Seeing wasn't great the closer the sun was to an edge of a cloud, but at least the transparency was good!

Brief Sunshine - 2nd August

Seeing was awful, but I did manage to get some imaging in briefly before the clouds set in. Far from my best, but better than nothing!

Fishing for gaps in the cloud again and just enough time for a full disk, although high cloud and haze meant the proms were not revealing themselves. More tweaking of the filter setup is showing hints of the filaments though which is positive.
