Oh the difference a few hours makes on the sun; the giant prom that was visible first thing this morning has since drifted off in space, changing the appearance of the suns limb quite considerably.
There was lots of activity to see on the western limb on this mornings sun, with the monster active regions, filaments and small scale flare activity and a huge prom lifting off from the limb. A couple of hours later the prom had completely disappeared. This image was taken with the DS40 at 700mm focal length with the DMK31 camera.
I was really pleased to see this huge prom lifting off when I looked through the DS40 at 6.15am this morning before work. It didn't hang around long, an hour or two later it had completely gone.
