Quiet Sun 22nd August

The sun has plenty of activity but is fairly quiet in terms of flare activity and the like. Taken with a pair of Lunt50 etalons on the 60mm f6 scope, a 2x cemax running on a short nosepiece and the zwo183mm camera. The etalons were not playing today getting on band without tilt, I need to look at a way of permanently screwing the etalons onto the scope rather than them being attached to the OTA by means of a cell.

A clear start to the day, but I only managed to image between the M-class flares that were popping off throughout the day. Equipment details in the file names.

Life has been too busy! The weather has been awful, finally the sun came out and I had some time!

Double DIsks 20th May

Saturday was a nice sunny day, clear blue skies! Alas I didn't have much time so only managed a quick couple of disks. First off the white light, taken with the Skywatcher ED80 at f7.5 with the Lunt Solar wedge, continuum filter and the ZWO183mm. Second up is the CaK disk, taken with the same scope but at 60mm f10, homebrew CaK filter and the zwo183mm again. I love this camera with it's small 2.4um pixels for full disks!

ATrio of Disks 15th May

It's been a funny old year for solar this year, just not the opportunity for various reasons to get out there and see the sun. So, I was really pleased after finishing work to get sunshine and clear blue skies. The warm summer evenings meant I just had to get outside and image!
