AR11477 & 11478
Relatively new active regions AR11477 & AR11478 swing round the solar limb; whilst nowhere near as large or active as behemoth AR11476 they still form a photogenic grouping. SS100 @ f16, DMK31.
AR11476 Geo-Effective
Despite monster active region 11476 getting slightly smaller in size it is now sat squarely geo-effective with earth, meaning any solar flares it throws off are aimed straight at our planet. NASA is still forecasting a 75% chance of M class flares, however the chance of an X class flare has increased to 20%. Taken with 100mm @ f16, DMK31.

AR11476 - Crackling With Energy...
Monster active region AR11476 continues to crackle with flare energy; it is a very complex active region with atleast 3 magnetic delta areas. With 3 large C-class flares in less than 24hours NASA has now increased the probability of M-class flares to 75% and X-class flare probability increasing to 10%. As it gradually becomes geo-effective then so the chances of a space-weather event affecting Earth is also increasingly more likely. Earth is quite insignificant size wise in comparison. AR11476 - Largest Spot In Years?
One of the largest sunspots we have seen in years rotated around the limb this weekend. Measuring more than 100,000km in size this active region is a solar giant, and can be seen in the picture with it's complex 'beta-gamma' magnetic field crackling with micro-flare activity. NASA is forecasting a 70% chance of M-Class flares from it over the coming days, and as rotates to be Earth facing there is a real chance of possible auroral activity. One to keep an eye on!

AR1471 & AR1469 Surge Prominence
I couldn't believe my eyes as I had my first proper view of the sun in almost 3 weeks; I had checked the GONG site only a few minutes before looking through the scope, however in that short space of time, AR1469, as it was right on the departing limb threw off a surge prominence. The whole event only lasted maybe 10 minutes maximum but fortunately was able to get an image. Seeing conditions were awful today, with the spicule ring showing little if any detail. This was taken with the 100mm PST mod @ f10, DMK31 camera - i'm really pleased with this new Ha setup i'm running and look forward to having some proper time to test it out properly.
