Snap, Crackle, But no Pop! Solar Micro Flares 7th July


NASA was predicting a greater than 50% chance of M-class flares from these active regions on Sunday, and so for some time I sat poised, ready to record any flare action in a time lapse animation.  However, throughout daylight hours in the Uk nothing happened, in fact the animation shown above is fairly typical of what was happening here.  This was taken with the 100mm PST mod at 2000mm focal length with the DMK31 camera and shows about 18 minutes in the life of our star.
